ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, situated at the southeast corner of New Hampshire, with the Atlantic ocean on the southeast, and Piscataqua river on the northeast. Area, 695 square miles. Face of the country, diversified; soil, productive. Seats of justice, Portsmouth and Exeter. Pop. in 1810, 50,175; in 1820, 55,226; in 1830, 44,325; in 1840, 45,771; in 1850, 48,184.
