    Nicaragua. Supreme Government’s War Ministry. House of Government. León, June 20, 1855. Colonel Walker. The S.P.E. has issued the following decree:

    The Provisional Director of the State of Nicaragua, considering the services of Colonel Walker useful to the Nicaraguan cause, who has declared his intention to be naturalized in this country; in exercising his powers,

    DECREES:

    That Colonel Walker receives the title of Colonel of the Democratic Army, to whom this letter serves as notice.

    Relay this message to the appropriate individuals. Issued in León, June 20, 1855. –Francisco Castellón.

    And I have the pleasure to award you this title as a testimony to the appreciation and confidence with which the Provisional Government has desired to display the valiant efforts which you have made on behalf of Nicaragua; and with the hope that you will accept this position, it pleases me to offer you the considerations with which I am your attentive servant.
