New York registered ship loaded with cotton burns in Apalachicola Bay, Florida

The New York registered vessel Switzerland, under the command of a Captain Trask, caught fire in Apalachicola Bay in Florida and burned to the waterline. Both the ship and its cargo of 2,400 bales of cotton worth $120,000 were completely destroyed.  No casualties were reported, however. (By John Osborne)
