James Hamilton, Esq., namesake of the Hamilton Library and Cumberhand Historical Society. This photograph is a copy made by John Choate in the 1880s of an earlier photo. The original image was likely a cased photograph made in the 1850s. Hamilton lived from 1793 to 1873.
