MARTIN COUNTY, situated in the southerly part of Indiana, and traversed by east fork of White river. Area, 300 square miles. Face of the country diversified; soil good. Seat of justice, Mount Pleasant. Pop. in 1820, 1,032; in 1830, 2,010; in 1840, 3,875; in 1850, 5,941.
