GLOUCESTER COUNTY, situated toward the southwesterly part of New Jersey, with Delaware river on the northwest. Area, 580 square miles. Face of the country level; soil generally productive. Seat of justice, Woodbury. Pop. in 1810, 19,744; in 1820, 23,090; in 1830, 28,431; in 1840, 25,438; in 1850, 14,655.
