LOUISIANA, A post village of Pike county, on the left bank of the Mississippi River, two miles below the mouth of Salt river, 114 miles above St. Louis, and 82 miles north-east of Jefferson City.  It has a good landing and considerable trade, and contains several stores and warehouses. (The Missouri State Gazetteer and Business Directory, 1860)
