American Medical Association founded in Philadelphia

With 250 delegates from twenty-two states in attendance, the American Medical Association was organized in the Hall of the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Dr. Jonathan Knight was elected as its first president. (By John Osborne)
