CONECUH COUNTY, situated on the south boundary of Alabama, and traversed by Conecuh river. Area, 1,531 square miles. Face of the country undulating rather than hilly; soil sterile, except along the streams. Seat of justice, Sparta. Pop. in 1820, 5,713; in 1830, 7,444; in 1840, 8,197; in 1850, 9,322.
