GREENVILLE DISTRICT, situated on the northerly boundary of South Carolina, with Saluda river on the southwest. Area, 705 square miles. Face of the country, mountainous and diversified; soil, generally fertile and well cultivated. Seat of justice, Greenville. Pop. in 1810, 13,133; in 1820, 14,530; in 1830, 16,476; in 1840, 17,839; in 1850, 20,156.
