MERCER COUNTY, situated on the westerly boundary of New Jersey, with Delaware river on the west. Area, 260 square miles. Seat of justice, Trenton, which is also the capital of the state. Pop. in 1840, 21,502; in 1850, 27,986. (Fanning's, 1853)
