MADISON COUNTY, situated in the central part of Mississippi, with Big Black river on the northwest, and the Pearl river on the southwest. Area, 548 square miles. Seat of justice, Canton. Pop. in 1830, 4,973; in 1840, 15,530; in 1850, 18,173. (Fanning's, 1853)
