Massachusetts legislates milk inspections

The Massachusetts legislature ordered milk inspections throughout the state by law and appointed milk inspectors to enforce the nation's first such action. This act followed a less effective 1856 attempt to keep milk safe which did not allow for inspections. (By John Osborne)
