PITT COUNTY, situated in the easterly part of North Carolina, with Muse river at the south, and traversed by Tar river. Area, 800 square miles. Seat of justice, Greensville. Pop. in 1810, 9,169; in 1820, 10,001; in 1830, 12,174; in 1840, 11,806; in 1850, 13,397. (Fanning's, 1853)
