Wheaton College, Ill., was founded by the Wesleyan Methodists. A rule was enacted by the founders forbidding the students to become members of any “secret societies.” A few years since, the institution was sold and transferred to the Orthodox Congregationalists, and one of the conditions was that the above rule should remain in force. For violating this rule a young man was recently expelled from the institution. The father sued the college government, and the case has come to trial. The Court decided in favor of the college.
