HAWKINS COUNTY, situated on the northern boundary of Tennessee, and traversed by Holston and Clinch rivers. Area, 750 square miles. Face of the country broken with hills and mountains; soil generally fertile. Seat of justice, Rogersville. Pop. 1810, 7,643; in 1820, 10,949; in 1830, 13,683; in 1840, 15,035; in 1850, 13,370.
