CALEDONIA COUNTY, situated toward the northeast part of Vermont, on the westerly side of Connecticut river, and traversed by Passumpsic river. Area, 700 square miles. Face of the county mountainous and hilly; soil generally productive. Seat of justice, Danville. Pop. in 1820, 16,670; in 1830, 20,967; in 1840, 21,891; in 1850, 23,086. (Fanning's, 1853)
