George Steers, famous maritime designer, dies in Brooklyn, New York, aged 35

George Steers, the famous ship designer, is killed when the horses of his carriage bolt in Brooklyn, New York. He had designed the famous yacht America that raced for the America's Cup and later such steamships as the Navy's U.S.S. Niagara. (By John Osborne)
