The American chess player, Paul Charles Morphy, puts on a demonstration of his skill in Paris

The twenty-one year old American chess player, Paul Morphy, at the Cafe de la Regence in Paris, played eight games of chess simultaneously, blindfolded. He won six and drew the others. He soon became the best known chess master in the world. (By John Osborne)
