THE PEOPLE’S PARTY. – New parties spring up like mushrooms now-a-days. Every new grievance is made the occasion for a new party. The latest programme is that of “The People’s Party,” issued at Washington. The Declaration is very well written and the principles very good; but nobody signs it and nobody seems to be responsible for it. It is entitled to just about as much weight as a sensible anonymous communication in a newspaper. If sixty or seventy members of Congress will cut loose from old parties and issue this document as the programme of their new organization, it will probably receive attention. At present it amounts to nothing.
