The following text is presented here in complete form, as it originally appeared in print. Spelling and typographical errors have been preserved as in the original.

POLITICAL MEETING. – The National Intelligencer mentions that a meeting, composed of “gentlemen from all sections, heretofore co-operating with different political organizations,” was held at Washington a few days ago. They were from 13 States, “men of national and conservative sentiments, and ardently devoted to the preservation of the Union.” The object was, of course, to organize an Opposition party to act together in the election of 1860, and to counteract the tendency to sectionalism.

    We await further developments.
