Little Rock Arkansas December the 13th 1862
Dear Wifee
I embrace the presant opportunity of writeting you a few lines which in answer to yours which come to hand the 10th dated or the 16th of november stating that you was all well which I was glad to hear. I heard that the small pox was there and I was glad to hear that it hadent got among you. As late as date as that these lines leaves me well and when they comes to hand they will find you and familey well. Ive no nuse to write that would interest you. We are on the march to vixburg [Vicksburg]. We are now in 7 miles of Little Rock. We will get there tomarrow by 12 oclock. We may camp near there too or three days untill we draw some more money. We drawed the other day but onley too months wages that was the big sum of $20. I wantted to draw all the government owed me but I couldent get it. I wanted to send you some. I havent seen Sid nor Thomas in nearley two weekes. There regament mooved from where they first located about three miles from us and I never went to see them after they mooved. Ed [James?] come over to our camps day before yestedey and told us that willis Floid was dyeing when he left. He said he hadent ben sick but three days with new money [pneumonia]. I havent heard wether he was ded or not. You must excuse bad writeting and this short letter for I am verry tired. Ive ben walking all day threw the mud and rain. My paper is so damp I can scarseley write at tall. It is getting dark I must close. Give my best respects to all enquireing friends and receiv a dubble portion for your self. Kiss Priscilla for me and Ile kiss you and hug you too if I ever live to get home. So good bye untill I see you again.
