First ever dog show held at Newcastle in northern England

-
The first reputed dog show to be held anywhere took place in the New Corn Exchange at Newcastle-upon-Tyne in northern England.  Added to a long-standing Poultry Show, only two breeds were judged, Setters and Pointers, but sixty entries were made from all over northern England.  Two Lancashire dogs won best of breed, including Dandy, as best Setter.
