BUTTS COUNTY, situated in the central part of Georgia, on the westerly side of Ocmulgee river. Area, 420 square miles. Seat of justice, Jackson. Pop. in 1830, 4,944; in 1840, 5,308; in 1850, 6,488. (Fanning's, 1853)
