Convention signed in Sicily for the evacuation of royal forces from the island

 With Garibaldi and his Redshirts in control of most of the island, Neapolitan General Clary agreed an armistice and an evacuation of his remaining forces from Sicily.  His forces were allowed to retain the citadel at Messina and this remained in royal hands until the following year.  (By John Osborne)
