New York teachers debate the place of black children in the state's public schools

In Syracuse, the annual meeting of the State Teachers' Association and the Association of School Commissioners debated the full admission of black children to New York public schools.  Susan B. Anthony and Samuel May spoke for the proposal as a matter of principle while others opposed it on grounds of expediency.  The session adjourned without a resolution.  (By John Osborne)
