In Wisconsin, freight train hits a passenger train waiting in the station at Delavan and five die

In the evening, a passenger train of the Racine and Mississippi Railroad was waiting in the station at Delavan, Wisconsin while its locomotive took on water.  There it was hit in the rear by an eastbound freight train coming from Elkhorn, Wisconsin.  The impact crushed several of the rear passenger cars and five people were killed.  In addition, around twenty others were injured, half of them seriously.  (By John Osborne)
