SALUTES IN HONOR OF MAJOR ANDERSON.
BOSTON, Jan. 6, 1861.
One hundred guns were fired on the Common to-day in honor of Major Anderson.
SCHENECTADY, Jan. 5, 1861.
The Twenty-sixth regiment last evening, under Captains Dryson and Van Ingen, fired a salute of thirty-three guns and thirty-three rockets in honor of Major Anderson and his brave men. National airs were performed amid cheers for Major Anderson and Secretaries Holt and Stanton.
AUBURN, Jan. 5, 1861.
One hundred guns were fired in this city this evening in honor of Major Anderson.
UTICA, Jan. 5, 1861.
Two salutes of thirty-three guns each were fired here this afternoon for Major Anderson and the Union.
It is proposed to honor the memory of Old Hickory in the same way on Tuesday next, the anniversary of the battle of New Orleans.
