Further of the Kidnappers.
We hear that two persons living in Dickinson Twp., were arrested last week on the charge of being accessories before the fact of the kidnapping affair and both entered bail. The line of defence for Myers will be that the Butler family were slaves, it be claimed that the manumission of the woman was a fraudulent act to defeat the creditors of Mrs. Warfield’s estate, and consequently he, (Myers) as agent, had a right to possess himself of the property in a quiet way wherever he might find it. The prevailing opinion is that the court here will not accept as authority a decision of a Maryland Court against the freedom of the woman, so, probably, both Myers and the accessories will have to suffer for it.
