Moving out from newly captured Culpeper, Virginia, Union cavalry units probe Confederate positions

Following the occupation of Confederate General J.E. B. Stuart's headquarters at Culpeper, Virginia after a sharp skirmish, Union cavalry commander General Pleasonton called for further probes of Confederate positions around the Rapidan River.  Reconnaisance in strength over the next days proved that further advances were impractical and the main body held at Culpeper.  (By John Osborne)
