In Connecticut, a locomotive ploughs into the back of a passenger train, killing at least seven and injuring many more

Seven passengers were killed instantly and many others injured, some severely, when a locomotive on a test run ran into the rear cars of a passenger train on the Housatonic Railroad near the village of Turnbul, Connecticut, not far from Bridgeport.  In the morning collision, the locomotive smashed through the rear car and exploded its boiler inside the carriage, causing frightful carnage.  (By John Osborne)
