In Dunkirk, New York, a fire destroy most of a city block and kills four people

An evening fire in Dunkirk, New York demolished a long row of wooden buildings on Third Street, including a building housing German immigrants.  Four bodies, believed to be of immigrants, were found in the ruins.  (By John Osborne)
