In Hartford, Connecticut, the City Bindery building suddenly collapses

At around two in the morning, one entire side of the building holding the O.D. Case Book Bindery suddenly collapsed.  Excavations on a neighboring building site, combined with heavy rain, had undermined the structure's foundations.  Huge damage resulted but the early hour meant fortunately that the two hundred people employed there, mostly women, were at home and no injuries were reported.
