The San Narcisco hurricane continues its destructive path from Puerto Rico to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands.

-

On the saint's day of San Narcisco, a massive hurricane had struck the island of Puerto Rico causing widespread death and destruction.  The storm continued unabated towards the nearby Virgin Islands where, in the port of St. Thomas and the surrounding coast a reported seventy-five merchant ships were destroyed or damaged.  The town itself was almost completely destroyed and a total of around six hundred fatalities, including those of seamen was estimated.  Other areas of the islands suffered as well and flooding was widespread across the island of Tortola.
