    More Slave Cases.

    From the Pittsburg Gazette.

A free colored man from this city, named CHAS. WEDLEY, was imprisoned in New Orleans lately, in default of payment of a fine for some misdemeanor committed in that city, and, by the operation of one of the laws in that State regulating “the peculiar institution” was about to be sold into Slavery. Information of this fact was communicated to Mayor WEAVER by the friends of WEDLEY here, and affidavits were procured setting forth that he was a free man &c., and forwarded to the Mayor of New Orleans, and asking that he be liberated. Yesterday, our Mayor received a letter from J.B. WALTON, Secretary of the Mayoralty of the later city, acknowledged the receipt of the affidavits, and stating that WEDLEY had been released, and had been ordered to leave the State within 60 days.

The Mayor of Pittsburg recently received a letter, dated New Orleans, from R. K. WALKER, who states that he was appointed executor of the estate of BAKER WOODRUFF, of Louisiana, lately deceased, who by his will liberated all his slaves, numbering about sixty, and left instructions that they should be conveyed to Pennsylvania, and provision made for them for one year. Mr. WALKER writes that Pittsburg will probably be the destination of these people, and inquires whether there is any provision in the laws prohibiting the importation of free colored persons to his State, or if there would be any objection raised by the citizens of Pittsburg to their being brought here. Mayor WEAVER, of course, forwarded a reply that will be satisfactory.
