    Philada. June 15, 1847.

    My dear Sir,
I am exceedingly grateful to find that your inquires respecting the Re. Mr. Neville, moved satisfactory. All the Trustees in this city, to whom I have spoken on the subject, approve of granting the degree proposed.
Respecting Prof. McClintock, I wrote articles for the Inquirer and U.S. Gazette, immediately on the receipt of your letter. Dr. McClintock furnished one for the N. American. None of us here believe the charges against the Professor, but we could not contradict them without authority. The Ledger has made the amende honorable, in the handsomest manner.
    Very truly Yours,
    Benjamin Matthias
    Rev. Robt. Emory
