NEBRASKA.
Democracy is true to itself in Nebraska as well as South Carolina. On the 9th inst. Gov. Black solemnly vetoed the [bid?] for the abolition of slavery in the Territory. The following is the record of the transaction in the Omaha Nebraskian of the 10th:
“A message was received from His Excellency, Governor Samuel W. Black at the hands of his private Secretary, John [illegible], returning the Council bill for the prohibition of Slavery in the Territory of Nebraska, together with his objections thereto.
“[We shall publish the Governor’s veto of the Slavery bill in full to-morrow. The lobby of the Council chamber was crowded during the reading of the veto which was somewhat lengthy, but was listened to with intense interest.]
“On motion of Mr. [Furnns?], 500 copies of the veto message were ordered printed, and the bill made a special order for Wednesday next at ten o’clock.”
