Moncure Daniel Conway becomes junior minister for Methodist Church

At the Methodist Church in Rockville, Maryland, on his nineteenth birthday, Conway was appointed to his first religious post as a junior minister. Under the supervision of Reverend William Prettyman, Conway acted as a traveling preacher, speaking to various congregations within his circuit, sleeping in the homes of generous church members, and gaining experience as a religious official.
