AUTAUGA COUNTY, situated in the central part of Alabama, on the northerly and westerly side of Coosa river. Length, about 43 miles; breadth, 18; with an area of 774 square miles. The face of the country is undulating and hilly; the soil varied in its quality, from the productive alluvion to extremely sterile. Courts are held at Kingston. Pop. in 1820, 3,853; in 1830, 11,784; in 1840, 14,342; in 1850, 15,023. (Fanning's, 1853)
