Anthony Burns, after having been returned from slavery in North Carolina to live in Boston once again, enrolls in Oberlin in the summer of 1855 after receiving an anonymously donated scholarship. He supports himself at the College by selling copies of an autobiography that he dictates to Charles Emery Stevens. (By Blake Dickinson)
