BENTON COUNTY, situated on the easterly boundary of Alabama, and watered by the Tallapoosa and a branch of Coosa river. Area, 1,060 square miles. Seat of justice, Jacksonville. Pop. in 1840, 14,260; in 1850, 17,163. (Fanning's, 1853)
