LINCOLN AND DOUGLAS AT OTTAWA – DOUGLAS CLEANED OUT. – The debate at Ottawa on Saturday was a perfect triumph for Lincoln. Douglas lost his temper, and Lincoln retorted upon him in a magnificent style amid the cheers of the assembled multitude, who were three to one for Old Abe.
Douglas returned to our city, quite crest-fallen on Saturday night. The Lincoln men, on the other hand, were radiant countenances and boasted loudly of the handsome manner in which our champion handled his opponent. They say that he raised himself one hundred per cent in their estimation.
The late hour at which the train returned prevents us from giving further particulars. – Chicago Democrat of yesterday.
