SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY, situated on the north boundary of Pennsylvania, and traversed in the northeast by Susquehanna river. Area, 825 square miles. Face of the country, broken; soil, of middling quality. Seat of justice, Montrose. Pop. in 1820, 9,960; in 1830 16,787; In 1840, 21,195; in 1850, 28,688. (Fanning's, 1853)
