FREDERICK COUNTY, situated on the northern boundary of Maryland with Potomac river on the southwest. Area, 750 square miles. Face of the country moderatley even, inclined toward the south. Soil, fertile. Seat of justice, Fredericktown. Pop. in 1810, 34,437; in 1820, 40450; in 1830, 45,793; in 1840, 36,405; in 1850, 40,987.
