The Prince of Wales celebrates his eighteenth birthday
Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, celebrated his eighteenth birthday and became eligible to rule without restrictions should he ascend to the throne. He was to wait, famously, for a half century for that honor as his mother, Queen Victoria, did not die until 1901. (By John Osborne)
