FRANKLIN COUNTY, situated on the westerly boundary of Alabama, with Tennessee river on the north. Area, 648 square miles. Face of the country hilly and broken; soil productive. Seat of justice, Russellville. Pop. in 1820, 4,988; in 1830, 11,078; in 1840, 14,270; in 1850, 19,610. (Fanning's, 1853)
