Franklin County, MS

FRANKLIN COUNTY, situated in the southwesterly part of Mississippi. Area, 720 square miles. Face of the country hilly; soil, on the streams, very productive. Other parts contain open pine woods. Seat of justice, Meadville. Pop. in 1820, 3,881; in 1830, 4,622; in 1840, 4,775; in 1850, 5,904. (Fanning's, 1853)
