Queen Isabella II approved the preliminary terms of a treaty between Spain and Morocco. The treaty itself was signed on April 27, 1860 and was significant for the ceding of territory to Spain, leaving the city of Tetuan in the hands of the Spanish for a period, and the imposition of an indemnity on the North African state of twenty million piastres.
