SAINT MARTIN'S PARISH, situated toward the south part of Louisiana, with Chetimaches lake on the south. Area, 850 square miles. Face of the country, flat; soil, where arable, rich. Seat of Justice, St. Martinsville. Pop. in 1830, 7,204; in 1840, 8,674; in 1850, 11,765.
