BLADEN COUNTY, situated toward the southeast part of North Carolina, and traversed by Cape Fear river. Length, 50 miles; mean width, 30; with an area of 1,500 square miles. The face of the country is generally level; soil of moderate fertility. Seat of justice, Elizabethtown. Pop. in 1820, 7,276; in 1830, 7,814; in 1840, 8,022; in 1850, 9,767.
